Just a short account of our third Dubrovnik day: this morning after breakfast we had a transfer by minibuses to the charming town of Cavtat. By now, the group has grown. Those who have already visited other parts of Croatia with us are at present meeting the „new“ members of our Senior Travellers' Club and are forthwith beginning to praise the beauty of the country to them. Besides, they are, in a delightful manner, presenting themselves as nothing less than experts about this part of the world, exaggerating a bit their own exploits from the last week;)
Once we arrived in Cavtat, we walked along the coast, taking pleasure in the magnificent view of the open sea from one side and the harsh though beautiful mountain from the other. There were only one or two fluffy clouds in the splendid blue skies. A gentle breeze from the sea… A stark reversal of the weather conditions Bill and Judy would have had at home, as they said, walking alongside us! Now we are going to listen to an expert-led lecture, called Triplex Confinium. Constructing Border Societies, given in the cozy interior of a modest fin-de-siecle manor by an eminent young scholar joining our "crew“. It's gonna be exciting, I believe! Most of our friends in the group are passionate about history!
In the afternoon, after the lunch, we will continue the walk, passing picturesque villages before reaching Konavle. I'm already looking forward to it. I remember last time it was such a treat for everyone in the group! Nothing but good cheer, jokes, pleasant weather and the soothing Mediterranean plant life all around… After the hike, there will be minibuses doing the transfer to the modest mountain village for dinner.
